Fnatic and Anexis have topped their groups as expected, and they will be joined in the playoffs tomorrow by iNation and HEADSHOTBG. The main favorites at this tournament, the Danish-Swedish squad of fnatic, had no trouble at all during their Group B campaign earlier today, topping the group after two easy victories, 16-4 over iNation and 16-3 over TeG in a stage match in front of a lot of local audience. The other team to come out of Group B turned out to be Serbian squad of iNation, who triumphed in a true marathon decider match over TeG 26-22 on de_inferno.
Anexis came out on top of Group A after defeating es 16-2 on de_mirage, and then facing a much tougher test against Earthquake in the first place decider. The Romanian team that failed to qualify for the tournament, only getting a spot thanks to an invitation, surprised the Danes at the start of the match and along with some impressive play by Sedan "SeDaN" Ibrahim took a 10-5 lead. Anexis lost the next pistol round as well, which eventually put them behind 5-13, but Danny "BERRY" Krüger's squad rallied back and won 11 rounds in a row to win the match 16-13. After Earthquake failed to make the most of their chance in the Anexis match, they met with HSBG on de_forge to fight for the 2nd place of the group. The map choice didn't seem to suit them at all, as the Bulgarians strolled to a 16-2 victory and knocked out another local team. Groups C and D are currently in progress and will conclude tonight, while tomorrow is reserved for the entire playoffs which will be played in best-of-three mode. |
